9 tips for maintaining a healthy cash flow (1/3)

9 conseils pour conserver une trésorerie saine

All companies agree that cash flow is the sinews of war. But it is not always easy to adopt the cash reflex. Three clients of BNP Paribas Factor have agreed to share their experience and advice on maintaining a healthy cash position. Confidences.

Management of payment delays in the public sector : Étienne Bourdon tells us...

Our landscape creation company is not common. We bring a therapeutic dimension to landscaping. To do this, we carry out upstream studies to analyse the effects of garden landscaping on diseases. For example, for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease, we have conducted research to determine the positive impact that the garden can have on their perception. We have therefore created a clear, orderly garden, with a logic of form, colour and plants so as not to further disorientate the patients.

Taking over a company like O Ubi Campi is an incredible human experience, made up of good and bad surprises :

  • Our profession as a therapeutic garden is unknown and even raises questions. We therefore have a lot of educational work to do to convince people of the benefits of our spaces.
  • Our clients' payment terms are difficult to anticipate and can create cash flow discrepancies

There was a time when we were desperately short of cash. I was not familiar with factoring. It was described to me above all as a very expensive and restrictive solution.

I realised that the cost was reasonable in view of the service provided.

Since then, I have one problem less: the payment of my clients' invoices.

BNP Paribas Factor finances our invoices within 24 working hours and handles reminders and collection on our behalf. This is a real relief as we have neither the time nor the manpower to follow up with our customers.

It has also allowed me to give my customers flexibility in payment. I am under less pressure because I can better forecast my cash flow and my customers have more peace of mind in settling the factor when due.
For me, it's a win-win solution.

Étienne Bourdon's advice for a healthy cash flow  :

  1. Know how to prioritise
  2. Be transparent about the difficulties encountered
  3. Be well accompanie
